Our History
Kansas City Disability Mentoring Day started 20 years ago as the local event recognizing National Disability Awareness Month (NDEAM).
In previous years it grew into two events, one on each side of the state line offering sessions on Job Searches, Entrepreneurship, Interviewing and Resume Help as well as Career Exploration with employers

In previous years it grew into two events, one on each side of the state line offering sessions on Job Searches, Entrepreneurship, Interviewing and Resume Help as well as Career Exploration with employers and networking with Service Organizations that can help the job seeker. Events are organized by local volunteers.

DMD has been coordinated by the American Association of Persons with Disabilities (AAPD since 2001, as a large-scale effort to promote career development for students and job-seekers with disabilities through hands-on career exploration and ongoing mentoring relationships.
